More than 230 different cultivars are featured
in the Rose Garden, providing a dazzling summer
display. The earliest varieties, including
Gallicas, Albas, Damasks, Musks, and Centifolias
are followed counterclockwise from the left by
the later Hybrid Perpetuals, Hybrid Teas,
Floribundas and Grandifloras. This latter group
evolved after deliberate hybridization became
widespread in the 19th century.

A rose maze containing hardy Rugosa varieties
is situated beyond the Rose Garden, bringing the
number of rose bushes in this extensive
collection to more than 2000.
