* Funky Feature of the Week: I've been waiting for the Mountain Laurels to begin to bloom - they are one of my favourite funky features! The buds are geometric masterpieces which then open into intricate flowers. (Check out the first row of photos). Our Mountain Laurels are located on the slope near the north end of the bridge, and include varieties such as "Sarah", "Heart of Fire", "Freckles" and "Nancy". Have a look!

* As you walk into the Courtyard, you can catch a hint of the sweet smell of the Japanese Tree Lilacs just opening! By the Shop entrance, the Black Beauty Elderberry and torch lilies are providing great colour. Nearby we have weigela, climbing hydrangea, Beauty Bush, Dappled Willow, and the pond is sporting irises and water lilies.

* Our peak rose season is just starting and will continue for the next two weeks or so - a true feast for the senses! During this "peak" time, the maze will be at its best and the older varieties that only bloom once will show their colour. Thousands of roses - a shutterbug's delight!

* In the Innovative Garden, everything is filling out nicely. The Kiwi Kolomitka growing against the trellis is showing off its green, pink and white variegated leaves. Check out the various methods for mulching and organic pest control.

* Highlights in the Perennial Borders include our Blue Poppy, hybrid sage, Sundrops, Monkshood, Feverfew, Wooly Yarrow, Knapweed, Golden Star, Meadow Rue, Bellflower, and more...

* The Acadian Garden is filling in nicely, with its square plots of vegetables and herbs. Nearby, the yellow and white irises are in bloom, and the white Kousa and pink Satomi dogwoods are loaded with blossoms!

* Around the Gardens, there are lots of other bloomers - weigelas, early daylilies & hostas. Near the spring collection, check out the Fringe Tree, Tulip Tree and the Yellow Wood, all in bloom. The Governor's Garden is lush (and don't miss those Funky Egyption Onions!). The Victorian Garden annuals are taking hold and will become a highlight once they establish themselves.

* And there are many more highlights, too numerous to list!
