The Donor Tree
Money doesn't grow on trees... or does it?

The Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens Society is certainly hoping to prove the old adage wrong and have launched a major fundraising project based on the very theory that money can indeed grow on trees.

The Donor Tree project is intended to raise significant funds for the Gardens while providing an opportunity for donors to commemorate people or events in a unique and lasting way.

Our Donor Tree is a metal sculpture, approximately ten feet tall, fabricated by Scott Hamlin of Scotian Ironworks in New Ross. It is an "espaliered" form of tree, trained to grow against a fence, with a crown depth of just three feet or so. The trunk has been textured to resemble natural bark, and the leaves are textured with veins and shaped to resemble a natural leaf. The sculpture is created entirely from polished steel and treated for weather resistance. Our Donor Tree has been sited in a place of prominence in the main Courtyard and indeed will be an attraction in itself as it grows into a magnificent display.

The leaves will be "sold" to donors and then engraved with an appropriate inscription and hung on the Donor Tree. Leaves may be purchased in memory of loved ones, or simply in support of these wonderful Gardens. Through the sale of its leaves, the Donor Tree will support the continued growth and development of the Historic Gardens.

You may "purchase" a leaf with a $250 donation to the Gardens.
Leaves will be engraved, at our expense, with a brief inscription.
You will receive a tax receipt for your donation.
The leaf itself, affixed to the Donor Tree, is a permanent record of your support.
As the Donor Tree "leafs out" the Gardens will have a wonderful work of art which is testament to the great support shown.
